Al Reem Island covers a total area of 8.5 million square meters. Once completed, the island will house 210,000 residents, up to 10,000 hotel rooms, and thousands of office workers. This will create 1.4 million square meters of office space, 850,000 square meters of retail space, and many social infrastructure facilities, including three new hospitals.
The development of Al Reem island was started in 2005 by three general developers: Tamouh, Reem Developers and Aldar Properties.
Tamouh is developing 60 percent of the island, while Aldar and Reem Developers are developing 20 percent each.
